Is tax season really almost over?
As I stare out the front window today, watching the world disappear into another thin blanket of white I can't help but wonder, if places like Rexburg are only around to balance out places like Hawaii. Seriously, I bet God didn't really intend people to live here, I think he just figured if he wanted warm, beautiful and enjoyable places for His children to live in, he'd probably have to balance it with something the opposite. Then us humans couldn't help but push into every crack and crevice.
This week has been a good one, the weather goes back and forth trying to decide if it really wants to start the cycle of life over again. We have snow every other day almost and then beautiful sunshine that wipes away any trace of the whiteness. It's kind of odd, but actually rather cool. Right now I can't see the field that is 50 feet away from me. The snow is coming so hard that it appears to be coming in sideways, and the windows of the cars are whited over, even though the rest of the car isn't. Winter is a funny thing.
Jason is preparing himself for finals and projects. He finished all of the assignments in his welding class and has started his finaly project which is to make car ramps so that he can more easily work on his cars (don't tell him, but whether or not he finishes them, I think I'll buy him some from craftsman ones. . . it was just a beginner class after all, and I do want more babies, I can't take any chances).
I'm beginning to wind-down tax season. It's kind of odd. We had more help this year, even though we weren't completely overwhelmed last year, it seems to be kind of a let-down as far as the stress goes. I am used to 5 years of grueling days, especially these last two weeks, but seriously, my stack has gone down instead of up in the last two weeks. I went from maybe 35-40 returns waiting for attention to a mear 15. It's going to be interesting to see if they have enough work to keep me on all the way until April 15th.
Alisabeth has been doing amazingly, as always. She's learned what a ball is, and just like with a kitty or a puppy, she can point it out in a picture. . . of course, almost anything round is now considered a "ball" including the apple she chucked across the room the other day, but we're working on that part.
My Twilight series should be arriving on Monday and I'm really excited. I have been waiting oh so patiently for them. . . :)
I think that's about it. We're pretty easy. The parking lot just disappeared.

The coolest quote yet.
I know that when he died his eyes were closed and his heart was open, and I'm pretty sure he was happy with his final resting place because he was buried on the mountain. . . and that was against the law."

What a week?!
YES! The video finally loaded. I tried five times last week. I love this one.
Our week was good and busy. We had not too many events luckily. It's getting warm enough that Alisa was actually able to play outside two times this week. She loved it. There were so many people outside on Friday afternoon/evening that it looked like the whole complex was out! I've never seen so many barbeques going!
The highlight of the week was spending our tax returns. We had about $200 withheld in AZ and ID, so we split the money and decided we could spend it any way we wanted to.
I bought a new work shirt and a couple of pairs of dangly earings (my mother will be happy to hear that).
I also bought the entire Twilight Box set to arrive Tuesday.
I also used 1/2 of it to get a new phone so that I could be accessible again :)
Jason bought a remote start for the car, a "tap-n-die" set whatever that is, and an LED flashlight.
Alisa. . . bought. . . something cool. . . that we'll mention sometime.
She also learned "This little piggy. . . " and loves it. No matter how upset she is, when Jason or I grab a toe she stops dead and waits expectantly. :)
Like I said, it's a pretty normal week.

Sickos.
1-Jason attaches his remote control bat to the light fixture and he flies it in circles to Alisa's delights.
2-I try to show Alisabeth how to wrap up her baby dolls and rock them. She took it for a second and then violently shook it until the baby came out of the blanket. Maybe she remembers that she hated being wrapped up. . .
We had video of both of these things, but blogspot won't let us load either one. . . maybe next week.
Alisabeth has made many strides this week. Yesterday we stood at the picture of Jason and I on our wedding day standing in front of the statue of Jesus at the temple. I pointed as I usually do to Jason and said "daddy." Alisabeth immediately and very very clearly repeated the word and pointed too. Then we pointed to Jason and repeated "daddy!" she looked confused for a second and then pointed and repeated the word. We tried again with mommy, again at the picture her word was completely clear and well pronounced. However pointing to me and everything thereafter wasn't as exciting for her, but we pointed at pictured for probably another five minutes showing her every detail from "bush" to "Jesus." She repeated "Jesus" very clearly as well and pointed to him. It was a very cool moment. It's odd to think that I popped this little human out of my less than a year and a half ago!
Jason had a decent week at school, he was supposed to do interviews for his glorified English class, but after two days of dressing up for the occasion he still hasn't been chosen, we'll have to see what Tuesday brings.
I have been working a lot this week, and actually was very proud of myself. For the first time I wasn't just handed the numbers to input, I had to do all the corrections and figure everything out to get the numbers to be what they should be and where they should be. It was rather a stretch for me. I'm not the best at debits and credits, so I had to sit and think about every entry. I only messed up one of them, and it was easy to correct. The only problem we weren't able to figure out was that one of the owners created two receivables for the same money. In other words, she borrowed $36,000 from the company by writing a check to herself, so the check recorded normally, but then she realized she needed to have a receivable, because it was really a loan that would get paid back, so she then created a receivable with a starting balance of $36,000. So according to their books there were two sets of the 36K taken out of the company. . . I don't know how to fix that one without a lot of effort. . .
Other than that it was an easy week. I think I mentioned that we purchased a 7 cube freezer which now takes up most of our kitchen, this week we're going to be purchasing a bulk meat order with another couple which we can split and use to fill it up :)
I love refund time.

Snow . . . :Þ
I doubt everything will get covered over, and it probably won't stick at all, but the point is. . . what the heck weather?!
Other than that it's been a great week. As many of you are well aware I had a birthday on Friday. It was an odd day. I can remember in the past being excited about some event that I was expecting, whether a party or something else, but this year was different. I woke up at 4:30 and went in to work early so I could get out early. The whole time I was almost giddy with excitement. I was just in one of those good moods that wouldn't be crushed. I even had one of those tax returns that would usually have made me regret my descision to go into tax accounting, but this time it barely phased me. I left work a little before one and hurried home. I quickly shower and shaved, wanting to look my best for my birthday and then went and got my hair cut. I got home at the same time as Jason and then decided to go to the temple for a 1/2 hour before dinner. When I got back there was way too much steak cooking and I knew.
I should also mention that there were two other surprises that day. Jason left my gift on the couch where I would find it when I got home along with a huge happy birthday sign.
And when I got home there was a note on the door to pick up a delivery at the neighbor's house.
When I did it was a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers from my mother and Al. It smelled heavenly.
That night Jason cooked my my favorite dinner: Steak and potatoes, we had our friends over, and we played a brand-new boardgame (new to me) Carcassonne. It was a blast.
Did I metion that Jason had also dropped off a german chocolate cake with double chocolate brownie fudge ice cream at our friend house to surprise me with?
Let's just say it was a good day.
That same day Jason was able to go to a regional Automotive competition in Idaho Falls. He competed in two events with the school. There was a 100 question test to be completed in 1/2 hour, and then an interview section. He enjoyed them both, but the interview section more.
BYU-I swept the interview section and got all three placed, and they had 2 out of the 3 places in the test section. Jason didn't get his name called, but he had a great time. So we both ended up having a great day on Friday.
Alisabeth did too. Unfortunately because we were both busy that day she ended up at a neighbor's house for most of the day, but she had a blast. Jason said when he went to drop her off she took one look at the toys and didn't turn around to say good-bye. :)
We also had a neat experience with her yesterday. She was acting a bit cranky because we weren't giving her enough attention, so I stopped and went to play with her. She quickly grew cheerful and laughing. We played with blocks for a few minutes and then I remembered that her favorite book was only a few feet away around the corner of the bed. I began looking for it. She quickly got distracted and came over to see what I was doing. Once I found it I handed it to her with an eager face and a small imploring sound like she so often gives when she wants me to read her a book.
She took the book looking at me strangely and then tried to hand it back. I made the sound again and she smiled and sat down quickly opening the cover. The book I had chosen was a church song that was made into a book, so when I read it to her I sing each page with a small pause in between as I turned them. She quickly began to sing. It wasn't anywhere near the real tune, but it was very definitely her version of the song. She would pause for a second while she flipped from page to page and went through the whole book looking at me and singing me the song. It was so cool. When she was done singing at the end she closed the book and said "All done" just like I do when we finish.
I love her.
The rest of the week was pretty ordinary. I worked, Jason schooled, the baby played.
I did set up my schedule for next semester and ordered all of my books through the school only to find after I had received them that I could get all of the same ones in the same or better condition for 1/3 of the price on-line. Needless to say I'll be standing in line as soon as I get all of them to return the sadly overpriced school collection.
I feel bad purchasing from other sources because I know that textbooks is one of the places that the school can actually make a decent profit, but I just can't justify the additional expense when we're trying to live paycheck to paycheck, sad as that seems.
I also went to the chiropractor this week for the first time since before I got pregnant with Alisabeth. I woke up in horrible pain and stayed that way for two days. I couldn't lift my arm very high and getting dressed was an issue, so I called up and got into to see a doctor. He was good and definitely helped, but as I paid the bill I was reminded why I haven't gone in so long. One appointment cost almost as much as 1/2 of our bi-weekly food bill.
And the last excitement: They opened a new Costco in Pocatello (1 hr from where we live). Jason and I drove up on Saturday and stocked our house. The best part? We bought a 7 cube freezer. It's a small chest freezer, and it's perfect for our apartment. It fits nicely between the counter and the diningroom table. It will give us the freedom to take advantage of opportunites that we couldn't before. (Such as the purchase of a 1/2 cow or pig from a butcher for cheap.) Sadly, we're carnivors, so these things are important. Now, if I could just convince Jason to start hunting :)
Well that was our week in a nutshell. Life is good. No complaints here. I hope the same goes for all who read these words. You are important.

The smartest ever!
Check her out! And remember she's only 16 months old!
I don't think I can ever get over how fast she's learning right now. What a beautiful girl.
On another side-note I got a new phone, it is up and active. I can receive calls again. I exist again when I'm not at home or work!
On a 3rd sidenote Jason and I took our date-night this week to see Twilight in the cheap theatre. We were late, but we saw most of it. Having read the books I understood what was going on, but it made me wonder. They seemed to jump from hate to love in about 2 minutes of screen-time without any of the background that the books give, did anyone who hasn't read the books find that wierd? The movie was good, but I'm a purist, so of course I was disappointed. My exact words were: "Yeah I liked it, but it wasn't real."
Jason is getting decent grades this semester, he just got his mid-term scores and he's passing. . .
I have to sign up for my classes for next semester starting tomorrow. Since 4 out of the 5 are only listed at one time I'm definitely going to jump on it. It's my last full semester!!! AHHHHHH.
After the summer session I'll be all but graduated. The only classes I will have left are a religion class and an Architectural Landscaping Design class (yes they are both required for me to graduate).
